The Red Cross delegation in Caravaca de la Cruz has joined the preventive campaign 'I protect myself from the heat wave', which is being promoted by this humanitarian institution at national level in order to inform the population of the negative effects that the High summer temperatures can have on health.
The campaign has begun in the Plaza San Juan de la Cruz, with the installation of a stand, in which a team of volunteers has distributed information leaflets and free samples of sunscreen.
Likewise, stress tests have been carried out on the elderly, the most vulnerable group of the population in the face of the heat wave, together with minors and people with chronic diseases.
Spanish Red Cross also collaborates in the campaign 'Tírate con la cabeza', of the Association of People with Spinal Cord Injury and other Physical Disabilities (ASPAYM), to prevent accidents caused by dives.
The councilor of Social Services in the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, Maria Jose Soria, and the president of the local delegation of Red Cross, Elena Jimenez, thanked the involvement of the team of volunteers to carry out this campaign, since the The best way to prevent risks is to be well informed.
