The Plenary of the Municipal Corporation for the month of October began with the inauguration of Ana Luisa Marcos Campano as councilor of the Socialist Party government team.
The mayor assumes the direction of the councils of Education and Youth, after the resignation of Esther Poveda Marín.
Among the issues addressed in the last plenary session is the approval of a motion to request the Congress of Deputies to take into account the extension of tax incentives for Caravaca de la Cruz until the year 2021. The proposal, presented by the Group Municipal Popular, went ahead with the favorable votes of the groups of the PSOE, PP and Citizens and the abstention of Izquierda Unida.
In this regard, the mayor, José Moreno, reported that he has recently held meetings with representatives of the Ministries of Culture and Finance, which are part of the inter-administrative commission, to consolidate the expansion of tax incentives for Caravaca de la Cruz and that The 'Camino de la Cruz' Foundation can continue to perform its patronage work beyond the 2017 Jubilee event, thus reinforcing the municipality's tourism and cultural promotion as a permanent pilgrimage destination.
On the other hand, the Plenary debated the motion presented by the Popular Municipal Group to avoid the closure of the Ethnographic Museum of Miniatures 'Ángel Reinón'.
The political groups of the opposition agreed to adopt "all possible measures to resume negotiations with the family and reopen this permanent exhibition."
In this sense, the councilor who heads the municipal area of Tourism, Gloria Gomez, reported that it is not a municipal museum and that the agreement for its opening was completed in December 2017, "the intention has been to optimize and reunify resources, for what viable alternatives were offered to give continuity to the collaboration agreement, such as the one transferred to the Casa del Artesano, located next to the Palacio de los Uribe, which houses the Museum of the Fiesta, and was declined. "
