The City Council of Caravaca awards the 'Albacara' Awards, which in this edition have had more than 180 works presented (14/12/2018)

Within the School of Mandarin Prize the works of eleven students of Secondary and Baccalaureate have been awarded

Coinciding with the day of San Juan de la Cruz, the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has delivered in the Plenary Hall of the awards of the renewed literary contest 'Albacara', which this edition has become composed of the 'School Award of Mandarines', the 'National Prize of Narrative City of the Cross' and the' National Prize of Mystical Poetry San Juan de la Cruz '.

The mayor, José Moreno, pointed out that the Department of Culture wanted to bet on oversizing this event with more than forty years of history and strengthen its relationship with the figure of San Juan de la Cruz, without losing its original character so that continue to be an incentive and a stimulus for young people who are initiated in the literary creation.

For this call, which has been attended by more than 180 works of different putos of the Spanish geography and several foreign countries, the Department of Culture of the Caravaqueño Consistory has had the collaboration of the group Postres Reina, the Gollarín publishing house and the Discalced Carmelites.

The winner of the National Narrative Award 'Ciudad de la Cruz' has been José Fuentes Blanc, for the story 'Una pelo rubio en el hospicio'.

The first prize of the National Mystic Poetry modality 'San Juan de la Cruz' has fallen to the writer from Malaga, Daniel Cotta Lobato, for the play 'Dios a media voz' and the Sevillian Gregorio Dávila de Tena has been a finalist, with 'Madre of the water'.

The winners of the Prize 'School of Mandarines' in the first category have been the following: Lucía Rodríguez Martínez, of the IES Don Pedro García Aguilera de Moratalla (first prize narrative);

Ainhoa ​​Abril Martínez, from the Nuestra Señora de la Consolación de Caravaca school (second narrative award);

Carlota Roca Lozano, from IES Don Pedro García Aguilera de Moratalla (first poetry prize), and Jesús Gutiérrez Romera, from IES Don Pedro García Aguilera de Moratalla (second poetry prize).

In the second category of the Prize 'School of Mandarines' the winners were: María Marín Muñoz, from the school Nuestra Señora de la Consolación (first prize narrative);

Isabel Puerta de Gea, of the school Nuestra Señora de la Consolación (second narrative award);

Francisco López Martínez, from the school Nuestra Señora de la Consolación (first prize for poetry) and Pedro Vilches Bravo, from the school Nuestra Señora de la Consolación (second prize for poetry).

In this second category, the jury awarded an honorable mention to Marta Castrejón Fernández, of the Nuestra Señora de la Consolación school.

In the third category, the first prize for narrative was received by Javier Navarro-Soto Egea, from the Ramón Arcas de Lorca Institute, who has also won the first prize for poetry.

The second prize of narrative has been for José Blas Salcedo López, from the Oróspeda Institute of Archivel.

The second prize of poetry has been deserted.

The Albacara Prize was created in the city of Caravaca de la Cruz in 1972, under the protection of the figure of San Juan de la Cruz.

Since then, there have been many people who, having debuted in this contest, are credited today as recognized writers and poets in the regional, national and even international.

The initiative arose within the Club Edith Stein of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers and in 1980 the organization passed to the Caravaca de la Cruz Town Hall, continuing until the present time.

The jury was composed of fifteen people linked to the world of literature and culture.

In the line of 'National Prize of Mystical Poetry San Juan de la Cruz' has presided over the writer Luis Bagué, along with the editor of Gollarín Francisco Marín, the writer Montserrat Abumalham, the prior of Córdoba of the Order of Discalced Carmelites, Fernando Donaire, and the philologist Juan Sánchez-Carrasco.

In the line 'National Prize of Narrative City of the Cross' has presided over the writer Luis Leante, next to the representative of the Group Postres Queen Maria del Carmen Giménez, the historian Diego Marín, the professor Jesus Lopez and the journalist Alicia Ruiz.

In the line 'Regional Prize School of Mandarines' the jury has been chaired by the municipal librarian Juan Antonio Martinez Piqueras, along with the Councilor for Culture, Óscar Martínez, the philologists María del Carmen Roca and José Ródenas and the prior of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites of Caravaca de la Cruz, Pascual Gil Almela.
