The Ministry of Culture will support the candidature of the Horses of Wine to World Heritage by financing the renewal of the chronometer of the race on May 2 (01/03/2019)

The national deputies Isabel Borrego and Javier Ruano have visited the Casa Museo de los Caballos del Vino accompanied by the mayoral candidate of Caravaca, José Francisco García, who has stressed that the PP has always led the initiative to seek the support of the institutions national, regional and local to this candidacy

The Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous Community will support the candidature of the Caravaca de la Cruz Wine Horses to Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage, fully financing the renewal of the race chronometer on May 2.

This has been announced by the candidate for the Mayor of Caravaca, José Francisco García, who has accompanied the deputies of the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Congress Isabel Borrego and Javier Ruano to a visit to the House Museum of the Horses of Wine.

"While the City Council has not executed the budget allocated to the candidature from the budget, from the Popular Group we have been concerned to seek funding for the chronometer, an essential element for the proper development of the Horse of the Wine race, central moment and the highlight of this party ", explained Garcia, who added that the Ministry of Culture is also working with the Bando de los Caballos del Vino to gather the support of companies and institutions to the dossier of candidacy, which will definitely be ruled in 2020.

During the visit to the Casa Museo de los Caballos del Vino, Garcia recalled that the PP has always had the initiative when it comes to gathering the support of the institutions for this candidacy, those of the State, such as the Senate and the Congress of the Deputies, the Regional Assembly and the City Council, "and what is being done now is an electoral paripé that nothing new brings to the file".

"We have not only been in the elaboration of the file of the hand of the Bando and the Autonomous Community, but we have carried out actions to enrich the candidacy, as was the rehabilitation and musealization of the house that houses the Museum of the Horses of the Wine, the most visited of Caravaca, in addition to collaborating with the Bando to gather support from companies and institutions that support the file, which will definitely be ruled in 2020.

"We ask for responsibility in this matter, we know that we have to make some modifications to the file due to the time that has elapsed since its presentation, so we request that efforts be focused there and not on duplicating proposals with a single electoralist intention. opportunity for Caravaca ", added Garcia.

For his part, Javier Ruano recalled that in 2013, the now Secretary General of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, presented at the Congress of Deputies a Proposal not of Law at the request of the PP of Caravaca with the aim of urging the Government central to support the declaration of the Horses of the Wine as Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.

"The defense that our colleague García Egea made in the Culture Committee of Congress in June 2013 or the initiative that was presented a few months ago in the Senate by Severa González demonstrate that the PP has always led the defense of this candidacy, which we consider totally fair for a celebration that has surpassed the pure festive act to become one of the most important hallmarks of the city of Caravaca de la Cruz, a unique historical and anthropological legacy, also constituting one of the most brilliant spectacles, aesthetically and emotionally , of those who make up the rich Spanish festive repertoire, "Ruano has argued.
