Twelve women are part of the exhibition of illustration, design and photography 'Hypatia' (06/03/2019)

Within the commemorative events of the 'International Women's Day', the City of Caravaca de la Cruz celebrates the collective exhibition 'Hypatia', in which twelve artists from the town participate.

The opening of the exhibition will take place tomorrow, Thursday 7, at 20.30, at the House of Culture 'Emilio Sáez', where it will remain until March 29.

This exhibition of illustration, design and photography, promoted by the Department of Women, is coordinated by Caravaqueña artist Ana Vacas, who will exhibit some of her works with Marina Campoy, Maria Caparrós, Martina de la Cruz, Eva Barrilado, Gloria López, Yolanda Noguera, Vanesa García, Laura Zafra, Sefi Martínez, Raquel Rosique and Pathirke Jerez.

"We found a personal and at the same time varied representation of artists that introduce us to life, observed from different artistic disciplines and with the commitment to show the truth reflected in their works", according to Ana Vacas.

The name 'Hypatia' is justified in this exhibition dedicated to extolling the figure of women within our society, as a real reference and valued as a professional in all areas.

Hypatia of Alexandria, one of the first scientists of whom there are references, was respected for her ethical values and for her wisdom.

The relationship between the members of the Pythagorean community was based on friendship, there being no hierarchical structure.

They also supported gender equality and, consequently, admitted men and women under the same conditions.

They believed that all people, regardless of their culture, social class or gender, were able to get to know the perfect world, because they all had the same soul.

On the other hand, the Department of Women of the Caravaqueño Consistory will continue on Friday, March 8, with the acts of the 'International Women's Day' with the IV Urban March 'Súmate' (9.00 hours, from Plaza del Templete), reading of the manifesto of 'International Women's Day (11.00, Plenary Hall of the City Council), the meeting with the author Francisco José Motos and his novel' The keys of paradise '(16.30 hours, Artistic Circle 1911) and the tribute to the' Female Entrepreneur 'and' Working Woman '(9:00 pm, Thuillier Theater).

This year the awards granted by the Department of Women have fallen to Eva María Álvarez Carreño, manager of Clinics 'Lipoescultor', and the local collective of embroiderers.
