The "Assota Trail" brings together 900 riders this Sunday in the Caravaqueña district of La Encarnación (14/03/2019)

'Assota Trail' brings together this Sunday, March 17, 900 riders in the hamlet of La Encarnación caravaqueña.

The first edition of this mountain race has managed to complete the quota of participants and will congregate runners and walkers, popular and elite, from many points of the Spanish geography, who will enjoy a tour with multiple natural and historical attractions.

The test consists of three modes of participation: 'Assota 32K -Trail', 'Assota 22K-Trail' and 'Assota 22K-Senderismo', with 300 participants in each of them.

In addition, there will be four non-competitive tests for boys and girls, from the Infant category to Pre-Benjamin, grouped with the name of 'Assota Kids'.

'Assota Trail' is the name of one of the Ibero-Roman towns that were located in this important enclave of the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz: the Historic Site of La Encarnación.

The route through paths, paths and mountains will pass through the Ermita de la Encarnación (an ancient temple built during the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, erected on a previous one from the Iberian period), the site of 'La Cueva del Rey Moro' (strategically located fortification) in an old way road that connected Caravaca with Granada) or the Jorquera Tower (watchtower of the 13th century).

In addition, participants will find natural spaces of great environmental and scenic value in their path, such as the Río Quípar or the Sierra de las Cabras.

The event is organized by the Running Trail Club 'Las Cabras tiran al monte' and a collective of residents of the hamlet of La Encarnación, with the backing of the Caravaca de la Cruz Town Council, through its Sports Department, as well as The Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia, since the competition is integrated into the regional league of mountain races.

Numerous brands and companies have supported the 'Assota Trail' in its first edition.

The 'Assota Trail' is held non-profit and the benefits will go to the 'Adaptaocio' program of the Association for the Attention to Diversity 'Adinor' and the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz and Cehegín.It is a program of adapted leisure for people with disabilities, which fulfills three major objectives: to bring leisure to the group of people with disabilities, to reconcile work, family and personal life of families and to effectively integrate this group into society.
