World Environment Day

Each 'World Environment Day' focuses on a theme with which to raise public awareness of a particularly pressing environmental issue.

The theme for 2019 revolves around air pollution;

a call to action with which to help fight a serious problem that affects millions of people.

Approximately seven million people around the world die prematurely each year due to air pollution and, of these, about 4 million inhabit Asia and the Pacific.

This edition of the 'World Environment Day', an event led by the UN and held every June 5, has China as the host country.

Understanding the different types of pollution, and how they affect our health and the environment, will help to take measures to improve the air we breathe.

Often you can not even see it, but air pollution is everywhere.

Nine out of ten people around the world are exposed to levels of contamination that exceed the levels of safety indicated by the World Health Organization (WHO).
