The opera returns to the Thuillier with live broadcast from the Royal Theater of 'Il Trovatore' by Verdi (01/07/2019)

The City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its Department of Culture, joins the initiative promoted by the Royal Theater of Madrid within the fifth edition of the 'Week of the Opera'.

The Thuillier Theater will be one of the venues in Spain where Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore will be broadcast live on Saturday, July 6, at 9:00 pm, with free access until full capacity is reached.

The Teatro Real de Madrid organizes the 'Opera Week' from July 6 to 13, with the aim of bringing this genre to all audiences, regardless of age or geographical location, through free events that will extend the celebration to different cities in Spain and other countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Its fifth edition becomes once again a unique opportunity to discover the opera and share the experience in social networks with the tag #TRovatoreOnFire, so that all fans can join the conversation.

'lI trovatore' is one of Verdi's most acclaimed compositions, with public and critical success since its premiere in 1852. It is an adaptation of the play 'El Trovador' (Antonio García Gutiérrez, 1836), with a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano.

The action is part of the 15th century, with Vizcaya and Aragón as main stages.

The maiden Leonora falls in love with Manrico, troubadour and army officer who leads the uprisings.

At the same time it is intended by the Count of Luna, enemy of Manrico in love and in war.

The production counts with Maurizio Benini as musical director, who has already been at the forefront of the troubadour's history in the national operas of Paris and Amsterdam;

and directed other productions in audiences of world-wide fame like the Metropolitan of New York or the Royal Opera of London.

The direction of scene is in charge of Francisco Negrín, to the front of this assembly in Montecarlo or Copenhagen.

As for the cast, he will have Ludovic Tézier as the powerful Count of Luna, Francesco Meli playing Mantico and María Agresta in the shoes of Leonora.
