The Barranda Ethnic Music Museum

In the Museum of Ethnic Music of Barranda, visitors can see a varied sample of the musical culture of 145 countries.

This space, included in the Network of Museums of the Region of Murcia, houses a large part of the instruments of the collection of Carlos Blanco Fadol, a musicologist who has traveled countries of all continents for years, contacting ethnic groups that still retain each more and more scarce traditional instruments, as well as music, stories and legends that date back from the third century BC to the twentieth century.

The instruments stand out for their exoticism, authenticity and spectacularity, presenting sizes as different as the small barley stalk clarinet of Belarus, up to the gigantic Chinese drum, which reaches almost four meters high.

Most of the collection's museum collections are no longer used in their places of origin, as they are displaced by new musical trends or small groups of musicians.
