The City Council of Caravaca activates an emergency preventive device in response to the AEMET orange alert due to wind and rain (11/09/2019)

Before the cold drop alert activated by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for the entire Region of Murcia, the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has activated a special emergency device, which has started operating today, after the coordination meeting held early in the morning.

The board, where the preventive work to be carried out and the personnel reinforcements are planned for the next few hours, has been chaired by the mayor, José Francisco García, together with the councilors responsible for Public Safety, Traffic, Works and Public Services .

Likewise, controls from the Local Police and the Civil Guard and those responsible for Civil Protection, Firefighters and the municipal maintenance brigade have participated.

"The plan has been structured in two parts: the pre-emergency phase in which we now find ourselves, where the work focuses on the review of potential conflict zones, cleaning of sewers and scree and placement of fences in spaces that may be affected. And during the day tomorrow, when the highest concentration of water is expected, and a great effort will be made to be prevented and to respond to possible needs, "as reported by the Councilor for Public Safety and Traffic, José Santiago Villa.

From the area of ​​Citizen Security and Traffic they have also launched a series of tips to the population, given the prediction that exists at the moment and that can be variable in the next hours, so it is convenient to be informed of the evolution of the storm through from official sources.

They have also asked for extreme precautions, especially during Thursday, avoiding, as far as possible, vehicle travel.

Other recommendations are that they be reviewed in downpipes and drains, protected areas that may be flooded, as well as staying away from water currents, waterways and channels.

DANA (Isolated Depression in High Levels) will arrive in the Region today, Wednesday, when the effects with the first rains will begin to be noticed.

However, it seems that they will not be intense and widespread until Thursday, as announced by the State Meteorological Agency, which issued an orange warning for the whole day.
