The City Council of Caravaca starts clearing and regeneration work in green areas, rural roads, ravines and road margins (18/09/2019)

The six projects drafted by the municipal Works and Maintenance area have a budget of 315,000 euros, which are financed through the 'Regional Employment Councils' program

The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has launched a program of agricultural actions for clearing and environmental regeneration in public spaces, such as rural roads, ravines, green areas and roadsides, which will cover many areas of the municipality.

The six projects - which will be executed within four months - have as their scope the New Neighborhood, the Barranco de San Jerónimo, the Municipal Cemetery and rural roads of both the town center and the districts.

Likewise, it has included a project of planting and replacing trees that will act in the streets of the urban center.

"With this action the double objective of generating employment is fulfilled, at a time when agricultural workers have less activity, and of working to improve degraded areas of our municipality that require urgent action, as is the case in this area green 'La Yesera' of the Barrio Nuevo, of more than eight thousand square meters, which was totally unused and hidden among the undergrowth ", as indicated by the mayor, José Francisco García, during the visit to some of the ongoing projects , along with the Councilor for Works, Agriculture and Pedanías, José Antonio Sánchez, and the Councilor for Employment and Environment, Ana Belén Martínez.

This plan - which includes the hiring of 50 unemployed workers in the agricultural sector, as well as the materials to be used in the planned work - is part of the 'Agrarian Regional Councils' program, which has a total budget of 315,700 euros and is financed through of the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) and State Employment Service (SEPE).

Around 46,000 euros are municipal contribution.

For the development of the works, the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has hired 50 agricultural workers, who were unemployed, with previous experience and contribution in the Special Agricultural Regime.

The Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) scales the requests of workers who access the program, prioritizing people belonging to groups with difficulties in accessing employment, such as women victims of gender violence, people with disabilities, over 45 years or long-term unemployed.

The work carried out by agricultural workers - under the supervision of the municipal technicians of the Department of Works and Maintenance and based on the projects written by their managers - has begun on the Camino del Huerto, the Camino de Casa Blanca, the Camino Viejo de Archivel, as well as on rural roads of Barranda and La Encarnación.

"We know that there are many basic needs in terms of maintenance of public spaces. Our interest is to meet all the demands of the neighbors in the shortest possible time, taking into account that the resources we have are limited and we must act in a way progressive, "said José Francisco García.
