The City of Caravaca, together with the business and citizen platform backed by 10,000 signatures, calls for the extension of the Northwest Highway to Cavila and the Northern Highway (22/10/2019)

The mayor of Caravaca thanked the involvement of the businessmen who lead this platform, "who are going to work hand in hand with the municipality to get these two key infrastructure for the socio-economic development of the municipality and the Northwest"

"More than 10,000 signatures of citizens and the guarantee 250 of companies of the Comarca del Noroeste is what the different administrations will receive claiming the expansion projects of the Northwest Highway to the Cavila Industrial Estate and construction of the Autovía del North to Venta del Olivo, "said the mayor, José Francisco García, along with a representation of businessmen and along with the Councilors of Finance and Urban Planning, José Carlos García and Mónica Sánchez, at the reception of these firms at the Consistory.

In this way, the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has given its full support to the "Support Platform for the Extension of the Northwest Highway (Caravaca-Venta Cavila) and for the construction of the Northern Highway (Caravaca-Venta del Olive)".

"The businessmen who lead this platform, and the more than ten thousand people who already endorse it with their firm, are our allies to get these infrastructures to advance, because it is a matter of general interest, beyond political colors, that it would give the definitive impulse to Caravaca and the Northwest Region; and, therefore, as municipal representatives that we are, we will knock on as many doors as necessary until we get it, "said the mayor of Caravaca, who has advanced that they have already maintained meetings with those responsible for the Ministry of Development to address both projects separately.

José Francisco García Fernández has stressed that the two actions are fundamental for the socio-economic development of the municipality and the whole of the Northwest region.

"The highway of the North is the traditional connection between Levante and Andalusia by the interior and we think that it must have European funding within the Mediterranean Corridor project. In addition, there is a feasibility report that was drafted by the Government of the Region of Murcia and sent to the Ministry of Finance, which is pending approval by the Government of Spain. "

"It is an infrastructure that will increase the cohesion and the vertebration of the Region, will improve the daily life of thousands of drivers and will have a high social impact on employment, wealth and growth of the economy," according to the caravaqueño councilor.

The City Council of Caravaca also endorses the claim to continue the Northwest Highway to the industrial estate of Cavila, in order to improve access and communications with the main industrial and business area of the municipality

For its part, Autovía del Norte will improve communications in the northern half of the Region and connect all the municipalities of the Region with the Northwest Highway in Caravaca de la Cruz and with the Albacete Cartagena highway with Venta del Olivo (A-30) , linking with the Mediterranean corridor and improving communications with Andalusia and Levante.

On behalf of the companies that lead in the aforementioned platform, Jorge López Pérez has taken the floor, which has endorsed the words of the mayor and added that "the deficiencies in communications are a drag for the implementation of new companies in the Region from the Northwest and a problem for those already operating in this territory.
