The Caravaca City Council brings together the Local Bureau against Gender Violence and the Police Coordination Bureau (24/10/2019)

The Local Bureau against Gender Violence also analyzed statistics on the care provided by the CAVI, which has had 80 new users from the Northwest municipalities so far this year

In order to increase prevention actions and improve coordination among the main agents involved, the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has brought together the Local Bureau of Gender Violence and the Police Coordination Table, bodies that were chaired by Councilors Mónica Sánchez and José Santiago Villa.

At the Consistory, the head of the Gender Violence Coordination Unit of the Government Delegation, Isabel Barreda, as well as representatives of the Local Police, Civil Guard, the Commonwealth of Social Services, educational centers, the Service of Employment and Training (SEF), the Northwest Regional Hospital and the municipal departments of Education, Youth and Social Services, among others.

The Councilor for Women and Equal Opportunities, Mónica Sánchez, reported that "the Local Bureau of Gender Violence promotes within the municipal sphere policies to improve early detection, offer an agile and effective response to victims and plan prevention measures."

For its part, the Police Coordination Board analyzes individualized cases and aims to improve collaboration and encourage joint investigation between the Security Forces and Bodies.

"During the meeting we have also analyzed the statistics of care performed at the Center for Specialized Care for Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI), which so far this year has had 80 new users from the municipalities of the Northwest, facing at 64 that were attended in the same period of 2018, "said the mayor Mónica Sánchez, who recalled that thanks to the measures directed by the State Pact, the working hours of the professionals in charge of this service were extended and they will also be reinforced awareness raising actions aimed at different sectors of the population, with special attention on children and adolescents to work in prevention from an early age.

In the Local Bureau of Gender Violence, the implementation of the Prevention and Comprehensive Assistance to Victims of Abuse and / or Sexual Assault (CAVAX) Service of the Autonomous Community was also reported in the municipality, which will cover the Northwest Region.

The CAVAX will serve the last Monday of each month in the morning, from 09.00 to 14.00, from next October 28, without prior appointment being necessary.

This new service will be located in the Employment, Training and Equality Center, next to the dependencies of the Center for Attention to Women of Gender Violence (CAVI).
