The Department of Traffic and Public Safety of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has joined the campaign of the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) to ensure proper maintenance of vehicles on the roads in the municipality.
Accordingly, during the first weeks of this July, the local police has carried out preventive controls at the entrances to town.
The agents have inspected a total of 52 vehicles, of which 5% committed some kind of offense.
Police have paid special attention to the security elements, such as the condition of the tires or lights.
They have also asked drivers mandatory documents such as registration certificate and card Vehicle Inspection (ITV).
According to the latest study by Traffic, the risk of dying or suffering an injury with hospitalization increases with the age of the vehicle.
"Given this relationship between risk and age, proper maintenance of all security elements become an essential activity to combat accidents," said Councilman Traffic Safety, Pedro Antonio Muñoz.
