The Governing Council has given a green light to the contracting, through the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, of permanent conservation operations on the roads around Caravaca de la Cruz for a total value of 5.6 million euros, With the objective of providing better road safety conditions and ensuring the maintenance and improvement of roads.
Permanent conservation of 30 highways in the Northwest regional road sector will be covered over the next three years, from 2017 to 2019.
The contract includes conservation and monitoring actions for 24 hours every day of the year, thanks to the availability of personnel and machinery in any action.
Conservation work includes repairing deteriorated pavement, sealing cracks, removing debris, or correcting potholes, as well as pruning vegetation in medians in order to increase road visibility and road safety in driving .
Weed control actions will be carried out for margins removal, repainting of road markings and horizontal signs on pavement, as well as the replacement of traffic signs, safety barriers, signage and directional signs.
The impulse to these actions responds to the importance that the regional Government gives to road safety in the more than 3,000 kilometers that make up the regional road network and that, in addition, coincides with the celebration of the Jubilee Year in Caravaca de la Cruz in 2017.
