Caravaca de la Cruz is the municipality of the Region of Murcia that hosts the 'Fire Prevention Week 2016', an activity aimed at prevention and awareness, which organizes in different Spanish cities the Professional Association of Fire Technicians (APTB ) And the Mapfre Foundation, with the collaboration of fire extinguishing and prevention services.

The activities framed in the 'Fire Prevention Week' have been presented in the plenary hall of the City Hall, with the presence of the mayor, José Moreno;

The general director of Citizen Security and Emergencies, Manuel Durán;

The manager of the Fire Extinguishing Consortium of the Region of Murcia, Alfonso Ramón García;

The director of Mapfre in Caravaca de la Cruz, Nicolas Navarro;

The president of the Professional Association of Fire Technicians (APTB), Juan Marchal, as well as the Councilors of Public Safety, Pedro Antonio Muñoz, and Education, Esther Poveda.

The Fire Prevention Week is a sensitization program whose objective is to disseminate knowledge to the general population about self-protection.

In this sense, the various schools in Caravaca are participating in talks on prevention in the school and home, in order that the students identify the risks that may arise in their environment and acquire the necessary knowledge to act in case of emergency .

Also on Wednesday, November 23, a fire and evacuation drill will be held at the Institutes San Juan de la Cruz and Ginés Pérez Chirinos.

The activities will be closed on Thursday, November 24, with the 'Prevention Festival', which will take place from 10:00 am, on the Juan Carlos I sports grounds.

In this edition, the theme of the week revolves around the risks in the home.

"The school public will continue to be one of our top priorities, so that it acquires preventive habits, becoming, in turn, educators of its family environment. Also organized activities aimed at society as a whole, with a special emphasis on prevention for communities Of neighbors and small commerce ", informed the president of the APTB, Juan Marchal.

In this edition, the Fire Prevention Week will be held in: Concello A Coruña, Province of Cáceres, Oviedo (Asturias), Province of A Coruña, Ponferrada (León), Province of Palencia, Santander (Cantabria), Badajoz, Cantabria , Province of Badajoz, Jadraque (Guadalajara), Province of Toledo, Province of Ciudad Real, Province of Castellón, Comarca del Levante Almeriense, Comarca del Poniente Almeriense, Albacete, Alcorcón (Madrid), Móstoles (Madrid), Fuenlabrada (Madrid) Alcobendas, San Sebastián de los Reyes and Arganda del Rey (Madrid), Córdoba, Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia), Linares (Jaén), Madrid City Council, Lanzarote Island, Santa Lucía (Gran Canaria) Huesca, Comarca del Bajo Cinca (Huesca), Comarca del Cinca Medio (Huesca), Province of Málaga, Marbella (Málaga) and Province of Huelva.
