The festival 'Barranda Folk' will feature performances by 'Korrontzi' and 'Aulaga Folk' and 'El Gueto con botas'
The XXXIX Party of the Squads of Barranda gathers on Sunday, January 29, twelve rounds and crew, from the Region of Murcia, Albacete, Malaga and Valencia.
Following the scheme of previous editions, the district of Caravaqueña will host the previous days talks, courses, concerts and crafts demonstrations, within the framework of the 'Days on culture of oral tradition', the Market of Peasant Traditions and the performances of the Barranda Folk festival.
The program of the Party of the Gangs has been presented by the Minister of Culture and Portavocía of the autonomic government, Noelia Arroyo;
The Councilor for Tourism and Handicrafts at the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, Gloria Gómez, and the president of Aguireros de Barranda, Carlos Salcedo, who have agreed to point out the important contribution of this festival - a pioneer in Spain and declared of Tourist Interest National - for the preservation of popular culture and music of oral tradition.
The activities, which will be held from January 27 to 29, will start with the Conference on Culture of Oral Tradition, which includes the XV Course 'Floklore and school.

Within the Barranda Folk music festival, the Cultural Center Pepe Salcedo de Barranda will host the performances of 'Korrontzi' (January 27) and 'Aulaga Folk' and 'The Ghetto with Boots' (January 28).
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy the Market of Traditions Peasants, with demonstrations of crafts and tastings of native products such as cheeses and sausages, bread, pickles and honey.
The Party of the Gangs will begin at 10 am on Sunday, January 29, with the traditional Mass, which in this edition will be sung by the Animeros of Cehegín.
Then, in the streets of Barranda, the following formations will take place: Aledo's Squad, Ramos Zarcilla's Squad, Caravaca de la Cruz Animeros, Cehegín's Animeros, the Campo San Juan Gang, Sabinar and Calar Santa (Moratalla), the Squad of Purias (Lorca), the squad of Zarcilla de Ramos (Lorca) the Cuadrilla de Patiño (Murcia) and the hosts, the Aguanderos de Barranda (Caravaca de la Cruz).
From outside the Region will participate the Panda Verdiales Baños del Carmen (Malaga);
Of Albacete, the Round of the Llanos and Cuadrilla Aire Serrano de Yeste;
And Colla Brials (Valencia).
Since 1979, the last Sunday of January is celebrated the Party of the Gangs in honor of the patron of Barranda, the Candelaria.
This celebration has a permanent showcase in the Museum of Ethnic Music in Barranda-Blanco Fadol Collection, which contains a complete sample of musical instruments from the five continents.
