The Caravaca Library celebrates the 'International Book Day' with a tribute to Gloria Fuertes Components of the 'La Candela' club will read tomorrow fragments of the work of the Spanish poet, when the centenary of his birth is celebra (18/04/2017)

The Council of Culture of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through the Municipal Library, will celebrate tomorrow, Wednesday April 19, the 'International Book Day', with a tribute to the writer Gloria Fuertes, in the year in which Commemorates the centenary of his birth.

The event will take place at 7:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura 'Emilio Sáez', and during the course, students from Caravelas and members of the 'La Candela' reading club will read fragments of the work of The Spanish poet.

On the occasion of the 'International Book Day', during this week, groups of students from various schools in Caravaqueño will participate in a guided tour of the facilities of the Municipal Library and a storytelling workshop, which also includes the reading of poems Scored by Gloria Fuertes.

In addition, people who visit the Library during Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 19, 20 and 21, may participate in the 'book release', obtaining a copy and a mark pages.

Gloria Fuertes

Gloria Fuertes (Madrid, 1917) was a Spanish poet, linked to the literary movement of the first postwar generation that critics have joined the Generation of 50 and the poetic movement called postism.

Writer of the media, she became especially well-known in Spain from 1970 onwards for her collaborations in TVE's children's and youth programs.

In his poetry he defended equality between men and women, pacifism and the defense of the environment.

In 2017, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of its birth has been claimed its role in the Spanish poetry of the twentieth century.

The whole of Gloria Fuertes' work is characterized by the irony with which he treats such universal themes as love, loneliness, pain or death.

The metaphors, the linguistic games and the fresh and simple character give their poems a great musicality and cadence close to oral language.

His lyrical accent is one of the most personal, authentic and distinctive among contemporary poets.

Fuentes is known in Spain as the poet of children, but also as a woman ahead of her time, because as few was a claimant, feminist, pacifist, poet.
