The national prize of the Spanish Association of Fundraising reaches the Region (19/06/2017)

The Spanish Association of Fundraising has recognized with the prize to the best defundraising campaign or fund raising of 2016 to the association of families of persons with intellectual disability of the Northwest, Apcom, by 'We have to speak'.

This campaign made the people with intellectual disabilities themselves to become Apcom's spokespeople and take to the streets to talk to their neighbors.

The action included the selection and training of the captors who managed to involve 480 donors in the region.

Caravaca de la Cruz, June 16, 2017. The association of families of people with intellectual disabilities in the Northwest, Apcom, has won the prize for the best Fundraising campaign of 2016 in Spain awarded by the Spanish Association of Fundraising with the initiative 'We have What to talk '.

It is the best fundraising campaign according to experts who have valued the messages sent to society, the active participation of people with intellectual disabilities and the results: more than 480 new friends of Apcom who collaborate monthly with their donations .

'We have to talk' takes its name because it favors the meeting of the inhabitants of the Northeast region with their neighbors with intellectual disabilities to talk and, through mutual knowledge, overturn stereotypes.

This was done in the streets of the municipalities where these people live, a group traditionally little visible.

To achieve this, the protagonists received a complete training on the treatment of the public, the role of the sensor, and the arguments to break prejudices naturally.

Thus, in addition to improving the image of the collective and getting collaborators, employment was provided to the collectors.

Some of the messages that anticipated this action on the street through posters and other materials had such direct messages as "They can not have a partner or live together!", "They do not know anything!"

Or "They are not able to work!", Accompanied by photographs of the pickers in different scenes of their daily life.

Before these preconceived ideas, they raise the 'We have to speak' that gives name to the campaign and that links with the street action.

Now, the Spanish Fundraising Association award recognizes the efforts of these fundraisers and Apcom professionals to give voice to people with disabilities and get support from their neighbors in an original and close manner.

This award highlights the activity of Apcom, a member of Plena including Murcia region, among hundreds of NGOs throughout Spain.
