The Regional Hospital of Caravaca hosted the constituent meeting of the Health Council of area IV of the Northwest, in charge of collecting and managing the proposals on the public health service made by users themselves through different social groups.
The Councilor responsible for Health and Social Services at the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, María José Soria, who is part of the council as a member, has very positively valued the start-up of this consultative body, remembering that a claim materializes Of the municipalities of the Northwest Region, who requested through motions in plenary their creation as a space for citizen participation that promotes quality health policies.
The Health Council is chaired by the Area IV manager, Mercedes Barba, and has a secretary with voice, but no vote, and 18 members.
The vowels are divided into: 3 vowels for the Murcian Health Service, 4 representatives of the area's municipalities and two representatives of the most represented trade union organizations.
In addition, it has two representatives of business organizations, as well as two other consumer associations and another of neighborhood associations.
There will also be a representative of the association of chronically ill, another of voluntary associations, one of the socio-health schools and a representative of scientific societies in the health field.
The Health Council, attached to the Ministry responsible for Health, is the highest advisory body and public participation of public health.
Since its formal constitution, its members are engaged in advisory work.
To this end, they can formulate proposals on health policy and evaluate the compliance and implementation of health directives and plans carried out by health administration.
The purpose of the meetings to be convened on a semiannual basis is that a series of proposals and opportunities for improvement arise that management will analyze and start up or not depending on the possibilities.
Until the moment it was habitual the contact with the management between the areas of health of the consistories, as well as the users in particular, but at level of groups there was no channel of open communication, as is the case of this council.
Among the functions of the Health Council is to formulate proposals in relation to health protection and verify that the actions of Area IV area are in accordance with the regulations and are developed in accordance with the social needs and economic possibilities of the public sector.
