The glory of the Renaissance in the Kingdom of Murcia ', which gathers 65 works from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, will remain in the exhibition hall of the Society of Jesus until next November 30.

The exhibition, organized on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2017, was inaugurated with the presence of the accuser, José Moreno, who had words of recognition for the patrons of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation, who have made this cultural event of the first order possible. José Moreno also thanked the involvement of the curator of the exhibition, Nacho Ruiz, who has coordinated this project, bringing together for the first time a large collection of murcian art from an outstanding period of Art History.

The inauguration was also attended by the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López-Miras, and the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Lorca Planes, among other representatives of the local and regional administrations, the Cofradía de la Vera Cruz and The Camino de la Cruz Foundation.

'Signum.

The glory of the Renaissance in the Kingdom of Murcia 'aims to position itself among the major cultural events of the season at national level, both for its artistic and historical importance as for its uniqueness, being the first time that this period is tackled in a monographic way centered In a specific territory.

The exhibition allows us to understand the key role played by Caravaca de la Cruz and the Region of Murcia as a whole in the Spanish Renaissance.

It is composed of paintings, sculptures, fabrics, pieces of goldsmithery and architecture and texts.

The tables of Hernando de Llano, central pieces of the exhibition

The paintings by the painter Hernando de Llanos, who tell the story of the 'Apparition of the Holy and Vera Cruz de Caravaca', have become the centerpiece of the 'Signum' exhibition.

These works of the sixteenth century have undergone a thorough restoration process in recent months thanks to the patronage of the Banco Santander Foundation.

The restoration will be carried out in two phases.

In the first one has intervened in the four main tables: 'Prendimiento', 'Appearance', 'Baptism' and 'Interrogation'.

The second phase will be completed after the exhibition 'Signum', with the restoration of 'San Juan' and 'El Incendio', which were already intervened in 2003 and are in a better state of conservation.

The Spanish Renaissance painter Hernando de Llanos developed his work during the first quarter of the s.

His painting, influenced by Leonardo da Vinci, has a strong italianizing character.

The oil paintings, of identical dimensions, are dated around 1520 and belong to the Museum of the True Cross.
