Theatrical evening visits return in August with new chapters in the history of Caravaca. From 1 to 31 August, this activity, suitable for all audiences, will be held in the Castle and Royal Basilica of Vera Cruz (21/07/2017)

More than 35,000 people have participated in the previous editions of this tourist and cultural proposal for the summer nights

Theatrical night visits return to the Castle of Caravaca de la Cruz, with new historical contents, script and characters.

The Department of Tourism, with the collaboration of the Colegio de la Vera Cruz, offers this activity, suitable for all audiences, every night, except Monday, from 1 to 31 August, at 10 pm.

The thirteenth edition of this activity is going to be contextualized in the reign of Felipe V and the first days of the mandate of the commander the infant don Felipe, Duke of Parma, although punctually the actors go back to the Average Age in search of chivalric episodes carried out by the Caravaqueños of those times.

By 1733 the extraordinary Baroque doorway of the church of the Holy Cross was in its final line, about to be concluded, more than 115 years after the construction of the temple began.

It is precisely in this Jubilee Year 2017 when the 400th anniversary of the laying of the first stone, which took place on July 16, 1617, is commemorated.

The activity will be commanded by Don Ignacio de Cuenca, warden of the castle;

Alfonso Ortiz, teacher of the work of the church;

Catalina Litrán, protagonist in first person of a portent, and Antonio de los Reyes, crier and novelist.

All of them under the strong influence exerted by Don Martin de Cuenca, senior chaplain of the Holy Cross.

Together they will recreate significant events on the cavalry of Santiago's knights in the kingdom of Granada, the defense of the frontier, the construction of the temple and the miracles succeeded by the intercession of the Holy Cross.

The four characters are the conductors of the activity and main teachers of the monumental complex, but they will need the participation of the public as a prominent and indispensable actor to develop this unique cultural and tourist product.

More than 35,000 people have enjoyed this theatrical proposal in its previous twelve editions.
