The Mental Health Federation of the Region of Murcia (FEAFES), in collaboration with the Mental Health Association of the Northwest AFEMNOR, celebrates in Caravaca de la Cruz the XIX Regional Meeting of Families of World Mental Health Day.

The activities, organized in the town on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2017, will take place throughout the day of next Saturday, October 7.

The meeting will begin in the neighboring municipality of Cehegín, which will be the starting point of the pilgrimage that will take around 500 participants to the Basilica of the True Cross.

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., outside the Fiesta Museum, various activities will be developed, such as musical performances and workshops for children.

In Castillo de la Cruz Salons, a meal of brotherhood will be celebrated among the members of the 12 participating associations and the reading of the manifesto of the 'World Mental Health Day' will be proceeded.

More than a hundred countries around the world celebrate World Mental Health Day.

In Spain, it is one of the main events in which the whole field of mental health, and especially the associative movement as a whole, shows society the work they do, makes the situation of people with health problems and their families and publicly claim the rights of this group.

Like the last two years, the Confederación Mental Salud España proposed a vote through the network to decide what would be the motto of this year.

With a participation of more than one thousand four hundred people, in 2017 the motto chosen has been "To work without masks. To employ without barriers".

The Northwest Region has the association AFEMNOR, which explains its president Martín García, focuses its efforts on promoting the autonomy of people with mental illness, support their families and promote mental health in the school environment.

Based in Cehegín, the association promotes home care projects and employment and volunteer programs, among others.
