The House of Culture of Caravaca hosts a day of training for relatives and caregivers of people with Alzheimer's The day, given by the Spanish Confederation of Alzheimer (CEAFA), will take place this Thursday, October 19, at 17.00 (17/10/2017)

The Casa de la Cultura 'Emilio Sáez' is hosting a training day on Alzheimer's disease in rural areas, organized by the Spanish Alzheimer's Confederation (CEAFA), with the collaboration of the Department of Social Services of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz.

The appointment, led by the psychologist Susana Caravaca, will begin at 5 pm and will serve to inform the families of the municipality with Alzheimer's patients and anyone interested about what is this neurological pathology, how to treat the sick person, how the illness affects caregivers and family members, as well as providing information about legal resources and services available in the Region of Murcia.

As they point out from CEAFA, when talking about Alzheimer's the focus is mainly on the patient, the diagnosed person, the related socio-health aspects and biomedical research.

But Alzheimer's does not only affect the patient;

it also occurs in the family caregiver, who is also affected and usually presents symptoms or deficits directly associated with the task of caring.

Alzheimer's is a neurodegenerative disease that has already been diagnosed in our country to more than 1,200,000 people.

It is characterized mainly by the slow onset of symptoms that affect brain cells or neurons and that evolve over the years.

The Spanish Confederation of Alzheimer (CEAFA) is a national non-governmental organization whose goal is to work to put Alzheimer's on the political agenda, seeking the necessary social commitment and putting value in the knowledge to represent and defend the interests, needs and rights of all people living with Alzheimer's.

To do this, they participate in national and international forums with the objective of raising awareness of society and getting involved in the fight against this disease.

CEAFA brings together more than 300 local associations, with more than 83,130 direct partners.

This associative network has 5,419 volunteers and 3,863 workers who care for people affected by Alzheimer's disease and their family caregivers.

With more than 25 years of experience in the representation and defense of the Alzheimer collective, CEAFA is a reference entity at national level before official bodies, private entities and before society in general.
