The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz started last year this contest, with which it pays tribute to the caravaqueño artist Rafael Tejeo, camera painter of Isabel II, considered one of the great portraitists of the first half of the XIX century.

In its first edition the winner was Alberto Márquez Ruiz, from the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada in Alicante.

The accésit was for the alcoholic painter David Escrabal Aguado and the prize of the category child was granted 'ex aequo' to Elena Gutiérrez Sánchez and Ana Guillén López.
