The 'Duathlon Caravaca de la Cruz' reaches this Saturday, March 3, its majority age, with the celebration of a new edition that brings together about 450 athletes from different categories.

This competition, organized by the Department of Sports of the Caravaqueño City Council, is one of the scoring events for the Regional Duathlon League 2018.

"Athletes from the youngest category will participate to veterans, highlighting a high presence of students of the Municipal School of Duathlon, totaling more than 150, along with the absolute representatives of the Caravaca Triathlon Club, as well as duathletes from other points of the Region and provinces bordering ", as pointed out by the mayor who directs the area of ​​Sports, María José Soria, who has indicated that the success of the Caravaca duathlon lies in the attractiveness and technicality of the route, with the special hardness of the bike segment, with double climb to 'Caracolico'.

The race, which will have the 'La Corredera' promenade as the starting and finishing area, will affect traffic from 2.30 pm (how much the school classes will take) until approximately 6.30 pm.

The streets that are part of the route and that will therefore have specific traffic cuts will be Plaza del Templete, Corredera, Maruja Garrido, Professor Don José Moya, Granada road, Moratalla road, Los Andenes-Gregorio Sánchez Romero Avenue, Plums and Mayrena

The mayor of Sports, along with the head of the municipal area, Pedro Antonio Abril, have explained that momentary traffic steps will be enabled according to the career situation, depending on the segment being held, yet they have requested the understanding and collaboration of the neighbors so that this sport festival can be realized, avoiding as far as possible the displacements in vehicle.

Athletes competing in the absolute category will cover 6,500 meters on foot, 32 kilometers by bicycle and, finally, 3,100 meters on foot.

The smaller categories will take the exit at 2:45 pm and the absolute one at 4:15 pm.
