The City of Caravaca de la Cruz and Academy Alfonso X 'El Sabio "carry out joint activities to enrich the program with new cultural attractions of the municipality as reflected in the cooperation agreement signed in the afternoon today by the mayor, Domingo Aranda, and the academy president, Francisco Calvo.
According to the agreement, members of the Academia Alfonso X advise the Consistory in the cultural field, proposing the holding of conferences, lectures and seminars on issues related to art, history and local culture.
For its part, the City agrees to incorporate the activities proposed to the annual program of the Department of Culture and provide them with the necessary funding.

The first initiative to be held in the framework of this agreement will be a series of lectures on the history of Caravaca linked to Vera Cruz.
In this regard, Francisco Calvo has been advanced that "the City asked us to initiate partnerships with the organization of a series of lectures connected to the Holy Year 2010, in which leading scholars address issues such as the art of the reliquaries, religiosity popular in the Northwest Region and the presence of the Order of Santiago in Caravaca, among other issues.
