The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has prepared a Municipal Plan for Preventing Truancy and Dropout with a protocol involving the various stakeholders in the education community.
A proposal for the departments of Education and Social Development, the plan will be debated and voted on in the plenary session scheduled for today.
Councilwoman Carmen Mulero Ruiz reported that the working paper is the result of meetings with the management of schools and members of the AMPAS, the Municipal School Board and technicians of the Ministry of Education.
"The causes of truancy are placed in one or more areas such as family, social environment and even the lower, which forces us to act globally and coordinated, otherwise it may result in failure cases and academic neglect, "according to the municipal charge of Education.
The plan addresses from different perspectives and in a coordinated fashion the problems of absenteeism and school failure.
This sets out a number of objectives, action areas, prevention measures and a protocol.
The plan also envisages the establishment of a Local Board Truancy, chaired by the Mayor and composed of representatives from the departments Education Social Promotion and Public Safety, members of AMPAS Guidance departments, school principals, etc..
The body will meet periodically to analyze the causes of absenteeism and affections, propose and promote measures and records transferred to prolonged absenteeism Office for Children when intervention plans have not yielded the expected results, among other functions properly detailed the municipal plan.
The scope of the plan is the Caravaca population between 3 and 16 years old, schooled in public and subsidized education, Primary and Secondary.
