The City of Caravaca, selected to participate in the "Aurora" (24/10/2012)

The agreement for the implementation of this action was signed yesterday at the Institute for Women

The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has been selected, along with 12 Spanish consistory, to participate in the "Aurora".

The Secretary of State for Social Services and Equality, Juan Manuel Moreno, the director of the National Institute of Women, Carmen Plaza, Employment and Councilman in the City of Caravaca, Salvador Gomez, have signed an agreement for the implementation of this performance oriented employment and social rural women.

The "Aurora" is sponsored by the Institute for Women and co-financed by the European Social Fund.

In the selection of the participating municipalities, autonomous regions have intervened and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), establishing criteria on the real needs of the communities and territorial balance.

The profile of the participants will be the women who, by age or background, are more difficult to access a job.

The program, which to date has mobilized more than a million euros and now extends to 26 municipalities across the country, is a public action initiative designed to develop experiences that will increase employment and social participation of women living in rural areas ", said yesterday the Secretary of State for Social Services during the project presentation held at the Women's Institute of Madrid.

The local participants are Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia); Villafufre, Santillana del Mar and Field Amid (Cantabria); Autol and Ashtray (La Rioja), Almaden, Argamasilla de Calatrava and Viso del Marqués (Castilla-La Mancha) , County and County Matarraña Tarazona (Aragon); Garachico (Canary) and Media Zone Consortium (Navarra).

Content and objectives of the program

The content of the program consists of two phases: the first in which we work on personal issues such as knowledge, expectations, needs and demands of women, and a second focused on the professional path, based on work motivation and provide a vocational training linked to local labor supply.

Are contemplated also self-employment options in terms of natural resources from the environment.

Along with the social and labor integration, the "Aurora" seeks to promote economic independence and greater social recognition of the role that women play in the growth and sustainability of rural areas.

Other objectives of the program are: to promote joint ownership, promote equality of opportunity and treatment and reduce gender imbalances, promote digital literacy, encourage associations and networking, increasing female political and social participation, promote the viability municipalities and social eradicate gender violence.

Recall that, in our country, the rural is 80% of the territory and includes all primary production and much of the agro-food processing, which accounts for about 20% of GDP.

Comprises 20% of the population, of which women account for 50% and take 80% of domestic work and care, of whom 12% are permanent workers and 7% entrepreneurs.

Moreover, according to data provided by the Secretary of State in his speech, 67% of rural women devoted their time to housework or caring for a family member, compared to 32.8% of men.
