The Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz will implement environmental education program "Green Homes" aimed at families in the town who want to encourage energy saving in their habits and daily behaviors.
"This project promotes self-control in the domestic consumption of water and energy and, in its first edition, will feature the involvement of 20 families", as explained by the mayor of Environment, Maria Antonia Alvarez.
For the implementation of this program, the City has the support of Leroy Merlin, which will provide participants with the so-called "savings Kit", with various tools such as light bulbs, reducing water flow to the shower, faucet aerator and recycled bags, among other tools.
In addition, the Public Water Utility and other local companies supplied saving devices.
The "Green Homes," sponsored by the National Environmental Education Center (CENEAM) of the Environment Ministry, also seeks the involvement of families through regular meetings and distribution of information materials on self-control energy consumption and saving behavior buy more ethical and ecological.
"Ultimately, this program seeks to accompany families in the process of change towards a more responsible management of the home," he detailed the area responsible for Environment in the consistory caravaqueño.
In the first phase, participants are challenged to save on your household a significant amount of water and energy.
To do this, in addition to using the "Savings Kit" will attend a series of "eco-meetings" and theoretical and practical workshops on issues related to the environment.
The results of the program will be measured after one year in a final evaluation, checking the amount of water and electricity bills at the beginning and end.
In Spain there are about 1,000 families who already participate in the program "Green Homes".
In the Murcia Region, have joined this project municipalities of Murcia, Molina de Segura and Caravaca de la Cruz.
For its launch in Caravaca, the City Council has signed a collaboration agreement with Leroy Merlin.
