Aragon adds to the promotion and enhancement of "El Camino de la Vera Cruz" (31/05/2013)

In this morning, Friday, took place the signing of a cooperation agreement for the promotion and enhancement of "The Way of the Cross", passing through Aragon.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, and the Economy and Employment of Aragon, Francisco Bono, have signed the agreement in Zaragoza with the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, the older brother of the Brotherhood of Vera Cruz, Pedro Pozo, and the Councillor for Tourism and Culture in the Consistory caravaqueño, Maria Cruz Perez.

The agreement has been made to coincide with the opening of the Tourism Hall Aragones, Aratur, held at the fairgrounds until Sunday Zaragoza.

The Murcia region comes for the first time this event with the main objective to consolidate and expand their market.

The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the City of Caravaca, is promoting partnerships with various communities through which the Way of the Cross in order to carry out a coordinated and joint promotion of the pilgrimage route.

The agreement, which adds to the already signed last April with Valencia, seen as main priorities conduct joint advocacy, collaboration in the detection of problems in the road infrastructure and maintenance of the course and signaling.

For the development and monitoring of the objectives set out in the protocol, it will be a committee formed by the regions concerned, through their representatives in the field, and a working group composed of technical specialists in the field .

"El Camino de la Vera Cruz" is a pilgrimage route linking Roncesvalles and El Camino de Santiago, at the height of Navarre town of Puente la Reina, in Caravaca de la Cruz.

This route, besides serving pilgrimage route allows its use by others driven by a cultural or sporting interest, and is a source of opportunities for socio-economic development of the territories through and for the enhancement of natural and cultural heritage .

"El Camino de la Vera Cruz", based on historical references in particular concerning the Knights Templar and Knights Templar and Aragonese flows to Caravaca de la Cruz, is based on important traditional paths linking the various parts of the route, traversing nearly hundred municipalities in the autonomous regions of Navarre, Aragon, Valencia, Castile-La Mancha and Murcia.
