More than 40 students of the course "A tour of the regional archaeological and historical heritage," organized by the International University of Mar, visited Caravaca de la Cruz to take a tour of the sites of Cerro de la Ermita de La Encarnación and the Hill Archivel the sources.
Guided by local archaeologist and director of the Archaeological Museum La Soledad, Francisco Brontons, students and teachers met technical field and little known to the general public of Iberian shrine, quarries and the Ibero-Roman temples of the Incarnation.
Later, they moved to the hamlet of Archivel, where they observed the remains of the only known Roman castle and is excavated in the region built in the middle of the first century BC, as a result of the civil wars between Julius Caesar and the sons of Pompey the Great.
"Participants in the visit were surprised by the extraordinary landscapes and the richness of the deposits" as Brontons Francisco, who explained that the main objective of this course is to make visible between Murcia society the enormous importance of regional archaeological heritage.
The course "A tour of the regional archaeological and historical heritage," directed by Dr. JA Gómez Hernández and JM Garcia Cano, marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Summer Courses of the University of Murcia, revealing the enhancement of the last great archaeological finds of the Region of Murcia in the hands of the managers of the various excavations.
On the other hand, yesterday also took place, with great public success, the open house the site of La Cueva Negra because of the Archaeological Excavations Campaign XXIV.
