The permanent delegation of the Foundation Project Man in Caravaca de la Cruz has treated this year to a total of 60 problem drug users, of which 36 have started a treatment program, said today the president of the foundation, Asuncion Santos.

The data have been made public during the presentation of the annual activities of Project Man, who has attended the mayor, Domingo Aranda, the Councillor for Social, Carmen Ruiz, and President of the Foundation Trust and Solidarity Reintegration Ros Thomas Zamora.

Man has an ongoing project since 2006 and thanks to a collaboration agreement with the city of Caravaca, an outpatient program aimed at persons who have addiction problems, retain a stable personal and family situation.

Since the opening of the headquarters in Caravaca, 138 people have received treatment from the Northwest Region, with cocaine-related problems, alcohol or pathological gambling, among others.

It has also offered emotional support throughout recovery as well as the tools and instruments to assist family members in the process.

Of the clients served, 90% are male, with medium (59.3%), presenting a profile focuses on alcohol addiction, cocaine or polydrug use of both substances.

The aim of the collaboration between Project Man and the City of Caravaca is that caravaqueños having an addiction problem are not forced to move to Murcia for specialized treatment, but can do it in their own locality.

Saints Assumption Pascual, director of this institution, says that "for the treatment of such problems, it is important proximity, offer facilities for access to treatment for all those who need it."

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees Solidarity and Rehabilitation, Thomas Zamora Ros, wanted to thank the support of the City of Caravaca, individuals and volunteers who work with Project Man in Caravaca, since it is the only municipality which maintains a headquarters permanent addition to the capital.
