In 2015 the V Centenary of the Birth of Saint Teresa is celebrated in the city of Avila and the occasion of this anniversary comes the union of the Teresian cities under the name "Traces of Teresa of Jesus", in order to make known the work and the legacy of this Doctor of the Church, through the dissemination of the various Conventual Foundations made, and from which the monastery of San José de Caravaca de la Cruz is located.
In total, add to this initiative seventeen Spanish cities, where the different foundations of Santa Teresa Avila, Sevilla, Granada, Beas de Segura (Jaén), Villanueva de la Jara (Cuenca), Malagon (Ciudad Real), Toledo , Pastrana (Guadalajara), Alba de Tormes (Salamanca) Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Palencia, Burgos, Medina del Campo (Valladolid), Valladolid and Caravaca de la Cruz.
"Traces of Teresa" starts tonight at 21:00 pm, with the sound of the bells of all the churches of the cities included in the route, the first of the activities during this year and next will be made to commemorate this anniversary.
In Caravaca de la Cruz pilgrims can visit the monuments of the church and convent of San José of the Discalced Carmelites, founded by St. Teresa in 1576. The tour includes a visit to a religious cell, the oratory of the novitiate, the kitchen, the refectory, the chapel of the professed and crafts room.
