The Center of Attention to Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI) of Caravaca de la Cruz attended last year a hundred women from different municipalities of the Northwest Region.

This represents an increase of over 20% compared to the number of users who visited this service in 2013.

The CAVI is run by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a social worker, a lawyer and a psychologist and is located at the Center for Employment, Training and Equal beside the garden of The Cejo.

With this service, articulated through the Regional Network of Centres of Care (CAVI), it is intended that women victims of domestic violence are able to overcome the effects of abuse and confront their lives independently.

The aim is to provide them with social skills and psychological balance required for this.

The Autonomous Community spends 48,553 per year to keep the Care Center of Women Victims of Domestic Violence in Caravaca, is in addition to the 12,000 euros annually brings the city of Caravaca de la Cruz.

Performances on prevention and awareness

Besides the direct victims of abuse care, CAVI staff performs various actions on prevention and awareness, as the workshops in schools John of the Cross, Ginés Pérez Chirinos, Our Lady of Consolation and Oróspeda, in which theoretical and practical alternate to educate young people about the importance of condemning and denouncing the physical and / or psychological abuse.

Students also participate in a discussion forum on issues related to gender violence, such as machismo, patriarchal power structures and socio-cultural myths.

Moreover, he developed a training workshop for officers of the Local Police and Civil Guard and a seminar on developing skills in gender violence matters in the area of ​​Education in 2013.

In this sense, the Councillor for Women, Family and Social Promotion, Carmen Ruiz, recalled that "all policies on prevention of domestic violence are previously studied in the Local Coordination Committee Against Gender Violence, a body established to municipal level to work effectively and promptly, in which stakeholders are represented in this matter.
