Components Edith Stein youth club prepared a hangout for the Year Teresian (25/06/2015)

Former members of the youth club Edith Stein prepare a meeting for Saturday July 11, framed in the commemoration of the V Centenary of the Birth of Saint Teresa of Jesus.

The mayor, José Moreno, has been the superior of the community of the Carmelite Fathers, Pascual Gil, and John F. Robles, one of the promoters of this initiative and on behalf of people who were part of that club during the years seventies and eighties.

The purpose of the meeting was to transfer him to the mayor's program of activities planned for the I Quedada and request the support and permissions to the popular festival which will be recovered in the Paseo de La Corredera.

I Quedada Edith Stein Club start at 10.00 with the reception and breakfast in the Hospederia del Carmen.

At 12.00 hours, it will celebrate a Mass in the Church of the Carmelite Fathers.

Afterwards, participants will travel to the church of San José, where they made a tour of the former convent of the Carmelite Mothers.

After lunch, the components of the club will gather to share memories and anecdotes.

At 2200 hours, will conclude the program with the popular festival on the slide.

To complement this meeting, from 8 to 16 July, it is preparing an exhibition in the cloister of the convent of the Carmelite Fathers and of the space that occupied the old school of the Infant Jesus of Prague, today become the Hospice of Our Lady del Carmen.

The Club Edith Stein was born under the Carmelite Fathers and consisted of hundreds of young caravaqueños, which, divided into different groups (Dolphins, Albatross, Gazelle, Lynx, Eagles, Canaries, etc.), they shared a love for art, literature, music or sports.

"Many boys and girls, waking a teenager, found in the Carmelite Fathers who listen to them, oriented them, organized excursions to different places of the region and even remangaban, if necessary, habits play a football match in the makeshift camp ground in the yard of the convent became "he highlighted John F. Robles yesterday during the meeting.

For its part, the superior of the Carmelites in Caravaca de la Cruz would recall that it was the Father Dennis Thomas, the founder and main promoter of the Club.

He explained that "when young people proposed them the name of Edith Stein them sounded very strange and later had opportunity to learn about the life and work of this Carmelite nun who, being Jewish and philosophy student, he converted to Catholicism and was proclaimed saint and Doctor of the Church ".

The event organizers have created a blog (http://clubedithstein.blogspot.com.es) and a Facebook profile to publicize the initiative.

With files of the club, it has developed a list of more than 400 names of members of the various groups of boys and girls who were part of different groups of the club.

It has also enabled an email (edithstein2015@gmail.com) for communicating attendance I Quedada or to provide material for the exhibition.
