Having an informative tool for preserving the historic town, with a harmonious and unified criteria, has been one of the key objectives of the project "quality maps", executed with a total budget of 66,450 euros, of which 54,920 euros European funds belong to the "Leader" program and the remainder has been contributed by the City.
The findings of this pioneering project were presented by the director, José Joaquín Pascual, accompanied by the Town Planning and Works, Enrique Fuentes.
"It's a study that provides information for decision-making both citizens and administrations," said the mayor during the presentation held at the House of Culture.
For its part, the architect José Joaquín Pascual highlighted the didactic and pedagogical nature of this initiative, as "also helps us to reflect on the urban aesthetic and assess the implications of our actions."
The work has been developed by a coordinator architect five draftsmen, a technician in Image and Sound and an administration that have determined in recent months types of profiles of residents in the old town, facilities, green areas and parking and distorting elements and values ​​are necessary to preserve over time.
As for the items currently degrade the aesthetic perception must mention the presence of wiring installations in facades, antennas, covered damage, lack of maintenance in facings, physical barriers, and so on.
As to preserve the positive elements include the grilles, cornices, heraldic shields and carpentry, among others.
The project has generated graphical information and a complete database, with a sociological survey and a promotional video.
All it oriented towards the essential unification of criteria for the treatment of facades and pavements, so that future actions in the historic-artistic center generate a coherent urban complex, increasing the welfare of their neighbors and enhancing its attraction.
