Archivel hosts the presentation of the book on meetings of gangs in the Northwest Murcia (25/11/2015)

The book "25 years making music. Meetings crews animeros Murcia Noroeste" is presented tomorrow, Thursday, at 19.00 in the Social Center of the hamlet of Archivel.

After the ceremony, all attendees can enjoy the traditional 'loose Dance', enlivened by gang Campo San Juan, El Sabinar and the Calar de la Santa.

This publication, coordinated by José Clemente Rubio, offers the reader a series of articles by different people who know the music of oral tradition and are related to gangs and a first part dedicated to those components that are no longer among us, or that for reasons of age, they can not actively participate in the meetings.

Also it includes texts of songs, photos and posters, and other memorabilia from the last two decades.

The book was published to mark the 25th anniversary of the Gang Camp San Juan, El Sabinar and the Calar de la Santa.

Tomorrow's event is organized with the cooperation of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, the Reading Center Archivel and the commission of the festivities of Santa Barbara de Archivel.

José Clemente notes that "since the mid-sixteenth century, after the conclusion of the Council of Trent with its introduction in religious life in Purgatory, creating brotherhoods of souls spread and typically each, at certain times of the year , gathered musicians from the area for various festivities, both to raise money to maintain these brotherhoods, or to certain religious rituals. This gives rise to the animeros, or Aguilanderos animeros crews, which in many places have maintained or recovered ".

In some Spanish southeast highlands have preserved these crews animeros, orally transmitting their knowledge of singing, playing, song and dance and how they relate.

Some of these cases are those of Barranda, Caravaca de la Cruz, Campo de San Juan or Nerpio.

The Feast of Barranda crews an important impetus to the preservation and dissemination of the music of oral tradition.

"Although in most cases unrelated to the brotherhoods of souls, but have been developed and strengthened different" musicians and boleros "that had by different peoples, forming what is now known as Gang animeros "said the coordinator of the book.
