Civil Protection Volunteers carry out information and prevention efforts over the weekend at the Basilica Shrine of the True Cross (17/04/2008)

08/03/1917.

The City Council and the Association of Civil Protection Volunteers have renewed agreements establishing a collaborative framework to carry out actions on prevention and control of emergencies in the township.

The agreements have been concluded this morning with the signature of the mayor, Domingo Aranda, and the association's president, Pedro Antonio Muñoz.

The first agreement provides that the Civil Defence will make available to local authorities, as volunteers, your volunteers and staff to the extent of its potential for sporadic activities and public events.

For its part, the City is committed to concluding an accident insurance covering openness to those who participate in activities where collaboration is required.

The second agreement was signed for the first time last year and due to renewed success in the face to 2008, is that Civil Defence volunteers conducted over the weekend of information and protection work for 10-hour period supervised by the president of the association.

To meet the costs incurred by this partnership the City agrees to pay the sum of 12,000 euros, as stipulated in Law 6 / 1996 regulating the voluntary work.

A pair of Civil Defence volunteers stay for weekends in the area of the square of the Arch and the Basilica Santuario de la Vera Cruz to work with local police officers, making information work among tourists and help those people with mobility problems or needing help.

This collaboration, as explained by Pedro Antonio Muñoz, also serves as practice for the work to be performed by more than 50 volunteers who currently has the Civil Defence during the coming Jubilee Year 2010.

The mayor has used the signing of agreements to reiterate its appreciation to all volunteers who participate as volunteers in the most relevant events that take place in the town after a year, as is the case with the upcoming festivities when a large group of volunteers will be part of special security device.
