More than 160 voices will be part of the XI International Religious Choral Music (09/03/2010)

The mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, accompanied by the Councillor of Culture, Maria Cruz Pérez, and components of the choir Arsis Fina Botía and Santiago Marcos, today unveiled the poster of the International Choral Music Religious Caravaca de la Cruz , which in its eleventh edition will feature over 160 voices.

Following the pattern of the previous edition, the meeting will be international representation, with the voices of Sidney Sussex, Cambridge, nationally, with the choir Cororao, regional, with Ars Music, and local, with Arsis and the Boys Choir of Vera Cruz .

The mayor has referred to this meeting as "a real luxury for Caravaca in a very special year that has the Cross as the center of city activity."

Also, Aranda thanked the work done by the choir caravaqueño Arsis, "true soul of this game."

For its part, the president of the choir Arsis, Fina Botía, said that the meeting is fully established and there are many religious choral music ensembles that are interested in joining the event.

The City of Caravaca and Choir Arsis organizing an international meeting of religious choral music in order to contribute to enriching the cultural landscape of our town.

The program will begin on Saturday March 20 at 20.00 with a concert at the Church of El Salvador in which the various choirs will perform to finish with a common song.

On Sunday 21 formations participating in the eleventh edition will sing at 12.00 in the Basilica de la Vera Cruz during the Mass for pilgrims.

Cororao.

Cororao is a vocal group based in Murcia formed by 25 students and music lovers.

Besides enjoying the music group, among its objectives is to make, project to project, a musical work ever more demanding and make the most expressive and dramatic possibilities of choral music.

Their repertoire ranges from Renaissance to Baroque to contemporary music, not to mention the composers of the Romantic and ethnic music and root around the world.

Cororao now facing three different projects on one hand its "Crucifige", with works on the Passion of Jesus Christ of different times, on the other side "Love Tempest" with "chansons" about love and the nature of twentieth century composers as Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc and Hindemith, and finally, preparing the musical "Jesus Christ.

Choir of Sidney Sussex College.

University of Cambridge.

The Choir of Sidney Sussex has a reputation as one of the best mixed-voice choirs in Cambridge.

Works and recordings made for the prestigious Classical Obsidian Records and Communications.

They recently traveled to Italy, Austria, Germany and California.

The school emerged from the ruins of a Franciscan convent in 1596 and, although historically not had a musical tradition in Cambridge, has been home to professional musicians.

In fact, the large chapel on the school's current location was the site where the first English composers received title as such.

Among them were Robert Fayrfax, Christopher Tye, violinist and writer Roger L'Estrange, John Jenkins.

Even the Elizabethan composer William Byrd wrote pieces in honor of founder Lady Frances Sidney and his nephew, the poet and courtier Sir Philip Sidney.

We currently run Dr. Christopher Page, founder and former director of the award-winning Gothic Voices and Dr. David Skinner, musical director of the school principal.

Choir of the Basilica Shrine of the Holy and Vera Cruz de Caravaca.

The Choir of la Vera Cruz de Caravaca born in September 1998 as a reality that seeks to enhance the solemnity of the liturgical celebrations held at the Santuario de la Santisima y Vera Cruz de Caravaca.

It currently has more than fifty components, children and adolescents with selected voices, aged between eight and eighteen.

Although its main activity is to sing two Sundays of each month at the Basilica Shrine of the True Cross, have also acted in other churches within and outside our region, as in the Basilica of the Monastery of S.

Lorenzo de El Escorial.

From its inception until September 2008, its leaders have been Torrecilla as director Antonio Andreu, Isidoro Alfonso Chacón García, and María Encarnación Andréu Tutor Reinón as organist.

From this date, becomes director Doroteo Ludeña Lopez along with brothers Jesus Manuel and Raul Martinez Romero as organists and tutors.

Ars Musica.

Ars Music was founded in 1994 with Emilio Cano Molina as director, with the intention to study and perform music from Renaissance polyphony.

They have since conducted several programs, mainly based on Spanish sacred music.

In 2004 the group celebrated its tenth anniversary with several programs which sex was the Officium Defunctorum vocibus of Tomás Luis de Victoria and the Missa Vulnerasti cor meum Cristobal de Morales.

Ars Mvsica has performed throughout the province of Murcia and Orihuela, Hellin, Arahal (Sevilla), Madrid, Toledo, Almería, Salamanca and Ceuta.

He has collaborated with internationally renowned directors such as Michael Noonan or David Skinner, who recently collaborated in concert era Tudor polyphony.

Choir Arsis.

The choir Arsis born in Caravaca de la Cruz in January 1998 following an initiative by a group of people related to music, in order to propagate, promote and perform choral singing, maintaining, protecting and promoting the rich musical Region of Murcia and directed by Alejandro Guillen Torres.

In 2003 he recorded his first CD "Music for the Jubilee of Vera Cruz" with religious and Christmas music led by Antonio González Hidalgo.

Arnaldos Manuel Serrano, director, and with the choir Hims Mola, Molina de Segura, the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Virginia Martinez, performed Vivaldi's Gloria.

Also under the direction of Virginia Martinez has sung the Mozart Requiem at the theater Villa de Molina, Molina de Segura, and theater Romea, Murcia.

This year, Mola Hims with the choir sang the Te Deum of Charpentier in Albacete, Molina de Segura.

In June this year has traveled to Ireland to give a concert at the Catholic Cathedral of the Resurrection in Dublin and in October returned visit to the San Alfonso de Zamora choir giving a concert in the cathedral.

This year it plans an exchange with the chorus The Sydney Sussex Chapel Choir of Cambridge and one with the chorus "Workshop Phonos Coral 21.8" of Valladolid.
