The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, together with the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, and the Councillor for Tourism, Gonzalo López-Auguy, today inaugurated the rural hostel La Almudema, which will provide 82 new accommodation the municipality.
The total investment in facilities has been of 426,200 euros, of which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has provided 319,000 euros.
Garcia said "the effort is being done in the past two years to equip Caravaca of a network of shelters, because you have trust and confidence that the town deserves support."
The project, which is part of the agreement signed between the Ministry and City Hall in 2008 for a period of three years, adds 82 new accommodation at the nearly 800 that the town already has among hostels, hotels, guesthouses and farmhouses.
The lodge is built on the space that formerly took refuge rural school in the area, a building with two floors.
Other actions in Caravaca
The Ministry has allocated between 2008 and 2009 more than four million euros to the Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway network of hostels in Caravaca Jubilee 2010 and the refurbishment of the track, to give it a wide range of accommodation.
In addition, on 10 July, held in Murcia Caravaca MTV Concert Night, which last year took place in Cartagena, with 35,000 spectators.
In 2008 was for two million euros to set up two shelters in the vicinity of the Greenway as a path of pilgrimage.

With regard to the actions of 2009, also spent two million euros for six investments, including the adequacy of the old train stations Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Albudeite, River Fields and Alguazas, all for shelters pilgrims, and a new hostel building in the Rafah Bullas.
