Since summer 2008 we are experiencing the toughest international crisis serious and complex of the last 80 years.
The fall in revenue and tensions over government debt, have called the recent approval of Decree-Law adopting extraordinary measures to reduce the budget deficit cuts imposed by the State Administration and to be transferred equally to autonomous regions and municipalities.
In that sense, in our region, the FMRM (Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia), "has decided to recommend to municipalities applying Murcia salariares cuts guidance for elected officials, local officials and municipal managers of state companies approved by the Executive Committee of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).. "
However, the crisis is affecting most of Murcia, a product of the growth model of PP.
We are the region where unemployment has grown in recent years, and we are 20 points of the Spanish average per capita wealth, therefore it is particularly necessary intensification of austerity measures in our region, before the waste is has been occurring in the regional administration.
As the City of Caravaca is concerned, this Municipal Group nearly two years ago proposed the creation of an Information Commission to rule an austerity package to reduce spending, but has met only once so we consider has not fulfilled its intended purpose.
As for the debt of the City of Caravaca is concerned, the situation is worrying, because on the one hand we have about 20 million euros carryforwards, but if we add the 9.7 million claimed by the UTE Caravaca (Soccer Field fiasco) plus 3 million that the City has to provide for the construction of the auditorium, we would get would be talking in more than 32 million euros of debt, without doubt the most indebted City Region something completely unaffordable and almost impossible to catch with the expected revenue.
Therefore, the Socialist Municipal Group proposes that the next session:
Request, on the one hand, the Government of the Autonomous Community of Murcia a series of cost saving measures within an austerity plan.
On the other hand, the application, to reduce the high municipal debt, the following austerity measures in the city of Caravaca:
- Reduction from 5 to 10% of the salary of Mayor and Aldermen released.
- Reduction in the same amount of remuneration to senior executives of local and municipal public corporations (Area Managers, directors and managers).
- Review the allocation of exclusive to the municipal office.
- Minimize the hefty expenditure budget are dedicated to protocol and celebrations.
- Apply all possible measures in terms of saving and energy efficiency in all municipal buildings.
