The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, today joined in Caravaca de la Cruz, a group made up of 75 children living in child protection centers in the region, who visited the holy city to gain the Jubilee .
This trip has been organized by the Autonomous Community, which has custody of the children, and funded by La Caixa, according to the agreement recently signed by both bodies.
The children, along with their instructors and guests were received at City Hall by Mayor caravaqueño Sunday Aranda, Joaquín Bascuñana advisor and regional director of the lender, Victor Guardiola, as well as the general manager of Family and Children, Laura Muñoz, and the Director General of Immigration, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Leopoldo Navarro.
From there they moved to the Sanctuary of Vera Cruz, where they participated in the Jubilee Act.
Then the children moved into the little train from the forecourt of the shrine to the square of Arco, which participated in various workshops.
Then they went to the College of Our Lady of Consolation for the planetarium, and again in the little train, were taken to the castle restaurant dining rooms.
More than 1,200 foster children in the Community
The number of foster children in schools in the Autonomous Region, dated May 15 last, amounted to more than 1,200 children, of whom 231 are hospitalized, 12 are part-Diagnostics Emergency Program (Kangaroo), 220 participating in the Foster Family of Others, of which 63 are in special welcome.
In addition, 693 are involved in kinship care, 25 are unaccompanied minors with delegation of care, and 31 children are tutored in centers pending payment.
Also, last year, 63 national and 80 international adoptions.
As for the movement in the welfare centers, in 2009 there were 415 higher and 151 lower, while so far this year amounted to 109 high and low at 20.
Of past earnings last year, 65 children remain.
And the total number of children served, from 1 January 2009 and May 15 this year, was 760.
