The Department of Sports of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz closes the municipal program of hiking 'D'Ruta' in Granada.
It will be the weekend of June 2 and 3, with two routes along the routes known as 'La Vereda de la Estrella' and 'Los Cahorros'.
The places are limited, since the access of large vehicles at the beginning of these natural areas is very restricted.
Registration opens on Monday May 28 for those hikers who have participated in at least two routes of the current edition of the 'D'Ruta' program and on Tuesday 29 May will be offered vacancies.
Interested persons can receive more information at the offices of the Department of Sports, located in the pavilion Juan Antonio Corbalán, or contact their technicians through the phone number 968 70 35 63 or email deportes@caravacadelacruz.es .
The first of the routes provided by the Department of Sports to close the hiking course is 'La Vereda de la Estrella', also known as the 'Andalusian Himalayas'.
It climbs from the valley of Genil to Sierra Nevada, on the north face of Mulhacén and is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in Andalusia.
It passes through old access tracks to mines, wrapped by the snow-covered crests of Veleta, Mulhacén and Alcazaba.
It has a gap of approximately 700 meters, a distance of 20 kilometers and an approximate duration of six hours.
The second runs through the gorge of 'Los Cahorros', a simple route, of 10 kilometers, but of great beauty, which follows, from the top, the bed of the Monachil river.
Walking the hanging bridges, crawling through tunnels and touring caves are some of the attractions of this hiking trail.
The Department of Sports promotes the municipal program of hiking 'D'Ruta' -which takes place monthly from October to June- with the aim of promoting the practice of sports in nature, combat sedentary lifestyle and promote healthy habits of life between the population.
