Throughout the weekend, the cloister of the monumental building of the Jesuits is the setting for the Jute Arts Festival, in which 16 footwear and accessories brands participate, presenting their new collections and liquidating samples.
The space is open to the public Friday and Saturday, from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 18.00 to 00.00, and Sunday from 10.00 to 15.00.
The event, promoted by the association 'Calzia-Jute of Caravaca', in collaboration with the City of Caravaca de la Cruz and the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia, has been inaugurated with the presence of the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, and the Minister of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, Javier Celdrán, accompanied by the president of the aforementioned association, Manuel Polo, and other representatives and businessmen of the sector.
The aim of the Festival of the Arts of Jute is to highlight the craft values, sustainability, quality, design and innovation that characterize footwear and accessories manufactured in the Region of Murcia and particularly in Caravaca de la Cruz, where most of the companies that exhibit their products in ephemeral stores or 'pop up stores' are located.
In its second edition, the Jute Arts Festival is accompanied by a program of parallel activities aimed at both the general public and professionals in the sector.
One of them is the children's workshop 'Diseña tu alpargata' (Saturday, 10.30 am) or the 'Gourmet Tour', which includes discounts at ten bars and restaurants in the old town.
On Saturday, starting at 6:00 p.m., a visit to the old Jesuit school of 'influencers' and media specializing in fashion is planned.
At this moment, the writer and Premio Planeta Espido Freire will be named "Ambassador of the Jute of Caravaca".
