Next Monday, September 17, there is an open house at the Company of Jesus so that those who wish may admire the work that Santiago Ydáñez has done for the exhibition 'Mystics.
Santa Teresa and San Juan de la Cruz, light in the Golden Age '.
The exhibition hall will remain open to the public from 12.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 18.00.
The portrait made by the Andalusian artist Santiago Ydáñez has already been installed presiding over the old church of the Company, in the place that occupied the main altarpiece.
It is a large canvas of 14 meters high by 8 meters wide, which is the largest in Spain and probably in Europe, since the reference is usually the 'The Last Judgment' of Tintoretto, in Venice, with four meters less.
Santiago Ydáñez, named by some art critics as 'the XXL painter', executed this work in the exhibition hall itself.
For this, he was inspired by a baroque carving of San Juan de la Cruz, which he found in Peru.
One of the great motivations of the artist is to cover works of the History of Art, presented with his particular interpretation through strokes and the use of color.
The artist from Jaén studied Fine Arts at the University of Granada and obtained, among other recognitions, the ABC Painting Prize, 2002 Painting Generation Prize from Caja Madrid, the scholarship from the College of Spain in Paris of the Ministry of Culture in 2001 and the Scholarship of the Marcelino Botín Foundation in 1998.
The exhibition 'Mystics.
