Likewise, the CHS's support was requested to the proposal to supply with water from the Taibilla Canals the polygon of Cavila and several districts
The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, and the councilor for Urbanism, Agriculture and Environment, Enrique Fuentes, have held a meeting with the new president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), Mario Urrea, to expose and request its support in different matters that affect the municipality and whose purpose is to optimize the use of available water resources.
Among the issues addressed in this work meeting highlights the related to the flooding that has suffered the site of 'Noguericas', in the hamlet of Archivel, where, following the recent storms, there have been significant land and deposit trawls of mud, causing damage to homes.
As detailed by the government team spokesman, "we transferred to the Confederation the complaints that our neighbors have sent us, suggesting that this problem may be a consequence of the alterations that have been occurring in the landscape for many years. years, so we have requested that it be checked if modifications have been made in the field and, based on this, the necessary solutions are adopted ".
Another issue that was put on the table was the need for the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla (MCT) to provide drinking water to the Industrial Estate of Cavila and several districts.
In this sense, the Caravaqueño Consistory calls again for the collaboration of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, the Autonomous Community and the Commonwealth itself to promote this measure and solve the current problems of financing that project.
In this area of the municipality, the possibility of industrial development and population growth is at risk due to supply problems.
Enrique Fuentes recalled that the population of the 14 districts of Caravaca has historically been omitted from the supply plans of the MCT, which has forced the use of well resources, a fact that does not occur with most of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia and 32 municipalities of Alicante and Albacete, which do benefit from the infrastructure of the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla.
The illegal irrigation and its affection to the springs was another of the points that centered the meeting between the representatives of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz and the Segura Hydrographic Confederation.
"Since the Water Law of 1986 came into force, there have been major changes from dry to irrigated land, which has a very negative effect on traditional irrigation," pointed out Enrique Fuentes, who highlighted the good disposition of the new president of the Confederation to work on this issue and especially, to study carefully the case of the farm of 'El Roblecillo', "which is probably the most serious case, since there could have tripled or even quadrupled the area of irrigation."
Finally, from the City of Caravaca also requested the involvement of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura in the arrangement of the road of 'La Solana', as it passes through the river Argos, which is very deteriorated as a result of the recent rainstorms .
