A total of 26 artists arrived from different parts of the Spanish geography participated in the third edition of the 'Rafael Tejeo' Outdoor Painting Competition, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The works that participated in this contest will be on display from November 5 to 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Carrilero Museum.
Once the tender was opened, the winner of the contest turned out to be the Valencian artist Blas Tomás Ibáñez, from Onteniente, who received the first prize worth 1,000 euros.
The second prize, worth 500 euros, went to David Escarabajal Aguado and the second prize, consisting of 250 euros, went to Manuel Sánchez Lucas.
The act took place in the House of Culture 'Emilio Sáez', once the artists finished their respective works in the time marked on the bases of the contest.
The jury was composed of Caravaqueña artists Martina Sánchez García and Teresa Rodenas Calvache, as well as by the Councilor for Culture, Óscar Martínez, who highlighted in their assessment the success of participation and high quality of the works presented.
From the first hour of the morning the artists took the most representative urban and natural environments of Caravaca de la Cruz to paint their canvases, demonstrating creativity, speed, the line and mastery of technique.
"We want to thank all the painters who have developed their art in the streets of Caravaca, forming part of this contest that celebrates three years and that bears the name of the famous painter Rafael Tejeo, considered one of the great portraitists of the first half of the century XIX, "said the mayor of Culture, Óscar Martínez.
The style and technique of the works were free and the theme should be related to natural landscapes, everyday scenes and urban settings of Caravaca de la Cruz.
