Juan Luis Soto Burillo highlights the unity between political groups and institutions to support the candidature for Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Caravaca de la Cruz Wine Horses Festival
The process began in March 2011 and will culminate in 2020 in the Committee of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO
The Commission of Culture and Sport has unanimously supported the candidacy to declare the celebration of the Horses of the Wine of the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz (Region of Murcia), Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The socialist senator elected by Murcia, Juan Luis Soto Burillo, highlighted the unity among political groups to achieve this goal, and stressed that "unity is the way, work is being rigorous and full of hope. The unanimous support of the municipal corporation has had the backing of all the parliamentary groups of the regional Assembly, the regional and national governments, and the Congress and the Senate.The only colors that unite us in this race towards UNESCO are the red, the black and the white horseman ".
For the Socialist senator, "this bet is not just a local bet, but also a regional one and a country one, whose objective is to share with the rest of humanity a tradition and a sentiment transmitted from generation to generation, conserving its essence, purity and integrity".
Soto Burillo explains that it is "a party (held every May 2) linked to the transfer of agricultural products to the castle of Caravaca and linked to the bath ritual of the Santísima and Vera Cruz de Caravaca in wine. the values ​​of equality, respect, companionship and solidarity, a festival that revolves around the horse, pampered throughout the year, as a faithful companion of the men and women of Caravaca.
The socialist senator affirmed that every May 2 "animal beauty, embroidery craftsmanship and the courage of four young horsemen dressed in the purity of their white shirts, the passion of their red sash and the respectable black of their trousers merge , facing the slope of the castle to reach the goal and merge after the race in an embrace under the mantle of joy, passion and tears of emotion ".
For his part, the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, said that "the way to get this statement is not simple." Thanks to the excellent work done in the drafting of the file, the support received by the administrations and the various campaigns of promotion I am convinced that next year 2020 we will achieve this deserved recognition to the celebration of the Caballos del Vino, which is one of our main hallmarks and the best showcases to the whole world ".
The process for the celebration of the Horses of the Wine to be declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity began in March 2011, with the approval of the candidacy by the National Council of Historical Heritage.
Once the proposal is approved in the Senate, the next step will be its presentation to the Secretariat of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO on March 31, 2019, to be studied and evaluated definitively in the Committee of Intangible Cultural Heritage to be held in 2020
