The Department of Public Safety, Traffic and Emergencies of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has collaborated in the development of a pioneering system that prevents the passage of vehicles to pedestrian streets or areas where large events are held.
The project has been coordinated by the University of Murcia and the company Decodesk, based on the idea generated by Antonio Guirao, of the Dereineco company.
The pilot test to check the functioning of these barriers has been carried out in the industrial estate of Cavila, where the system has been put into practice with different vehicles, under the supervision of technicians from the University of Murcia and the Local Police.
This new system would allow a quick withdrawal, manually or by remote control, in order to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles.
In addition, the aesthetic function has been taken care of so that it does not generate a negative visual impact and can serve as advertising support or forms of urban art, as explained by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Traffic and Emergencies, Pedro Antonio Muñoz, and the Vice-dean of Infrastructures and Relations with the Company of the Faculty of Fine Arts of UMU, Antonio García.
On the other hand, the promoter of the idea, Antonio Guirao, has indicated that the objective is that it can be implemented in the cities that are interested and be a deterrent measure so that citizens are more protected.
